MRF ZTA – Tarmac Rally Tyre

The MRF ZTA is MRF Motorsport’s competition tyre developed specifically for dry and damp tarmac rally applications.

Its asymmetric tread design, latest-generation carcass construction and competition compounds provide an excellent balance of steering precision, lateral support, braking performance and traction, allowing the tyre to adapt to different temperatures, tarmac characteristics and grip levels.

FIA homologated and featuring E4 road homologation, the MRF ZTA is available in FIA-approved sizes from 13", 14", 15", 16", 17" and 18".

Suitable for modern rallying, historic rally / VHC, regularity rally and N2S, subject to the applicable regulations.

Available Compounds

TSS – Super Soft

Developed for low temperatures, damp conditions and low-grip surfaces.

The TSS compound provides very fast warm-up and the highest level of grip within the ZTA dry-weather range.

Recommended use:

  • Dry tarmac at temperatures below 10°C
  • Damp or mixed conditions
  • Damp tarmac at temperatures below 20°C
  • Smooth or low-grip surfaces

Approximate equivalent: Pirelli RA7+ / Michelin 10.

TS – Soft

The most versatile compound in the ZTA range for normal tarmac rally conditions.

It offers an excellent balance between grip, fast warm-up and performance consistency, particularly on smooth tarmac or surfaces with low to medium grip.

Recommended use:

  • Dry tarmac
  • Temperatures between approximately 10°C and 25°C
  • Smooth tarmac
  • Low to medium grip surfaces

Approximate equivalent: Pirelli RA7 / Michelin 20.

TM – Medium

Developed for higher temperatures, long stages and abrasive or high-grip tarmac.

Its greater thermal stability helps maintain consistent performance over longer distances and in more demanding conditions.

Recommended use:

  • Dry tarmac
  • Temperatures above 15°C
  • Long stages
  • Abrasive tarmac
  • High-grip surfaces

Approximate equivalent: Pirelli RA5 / Michelin 30.

USER INFORMATION

TYRE STORAGE:

Tyres should be stored in a cool, dry and dark place away from direct sunlight (Suggested storage temperature: 25°C ± 5°C). Avoid storing tyres in an area which is wet, oily or greasy.

RIMS:

Recommended width of the wheel as specified to be used for optimum performance. However, from the original specified rim width ± 0.5’’ can also be used. ETRTO/JATMA standards can be referred for the correct rim width.

TYRE MOUNTING AND REMOVAL:

Mounting/demounting should be done by trained personnel using a suitable mounting machine. Prior to fitment, inspect the rim and tyres for any external damage. Tyres have to be mounted according to the direction of rotation specified on the sidewall. The rim seating area and tyre beads should be lubricated. Recommended tyre pressure to be followed. Check for the proper seating of the beads and tyre centring with reference to RCR (Rim Centre Ring) after inflation. Balancing of the tyres must be done.

LEFT & RIGHT:

Directional pattern tyres must be used on the correct side. Left or Right and Outer side marking on the sidewall must be followed for best performance.

HAND-CUT TREAD PATTERN:

Groove width between the pattern blocks can be widened if required. However, hand cutting the buttons could alter the performance. Hence a careful decision is to be made based on the terrain conditions.
